And Christmas was __________________________________________!

Well the Christmas eve movie marathon was a wash. We suffered through Reds 2. From that point we decided to screen through the rest of the movies. We found one that was worthy of our tepid attention.

Christmas day was basically laid back, however we did walk the Laughlin river walk way. We went to Don Laughlin's Riverside Casino and ate at the Buffet.

Riverside Buffet

Christmas Dinner Buffet— holiday items include:
•carving station with roast beef and baked ham;
•entrĂ©es include salmon in lemon dill sauce, veal piccata, shrimp scampi, pork ribs, beef goulash, baked cranberry orange chicken, lamb mint demi, Seafood Newburg;
•Deli bar with variety of meats, cheeses, breads;
•variety of side dishes;
•variety of salads;
•variety of holiday desserts at the pastry station—$14.99

After the buffet we spent too much time at the Keno parlor and could not make it to the River Palms in time for bingo, so we came home early on Christmas day. Julia and I watched the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas special. We all ran out of steam and went to bed fairly early.

I took a picture of a mobile dog grooming service that stopped at the neighbors house across the street. All their dogs got shampooed and groomed for the Holidays.

 The park walk was pleasant today, no wind to speak of. That is rare here, usually blows about 20 mph every day.

                           The skate park was loaded with kids enjoying the Holiday school break.

      A little history for Tara. A lot of people including me hardly take the time to read historical markers.

We are hoping to get down to Brad,s around the 1st. of January. We also want to swing by Tuscon and visit the Desert Museum.

Days before Christmas

                                       We have been out and about days before Christmas.

          People in Arizona getting ready for Christmas. Check out the wreath on top of the golf cart.

                           Found Eeyore in the stuffed animal rack. seems he's been bleeding out his ass.

More Bullhead sites

This Catholic church sets on a bluff above Bullhead city. It took 20years to design and construct.
                                   I only got a couple pictures inside because it was so dark and I have a Kodak easy share.

Walking path to Davis Dam

This is a nice walk to Davis Dam. If you want a bit more cardio walk, take it all the way to the top of the dam.

                                          We parked at the rest stop just before you enter Laughlin.

                   The walking path goes over the road (which goes to Laughlin and Bullhead City).

                                                   A view from inside the walkway bridge.

                             A cool little weed (like a small tumble weed) that has little violet flowers.
There were plenty of flowers and green bushes on the way up the path. I am sure a lot of these will be burnt to hell and blown away at summers end.

 There are several picnic area on the way. There are picnic areas all the way up on the other side of the river.
There is also a large children's play ground at the end of this path at the base of the Dam.

                                      The architecture and structures are very nice and clean.

                                                Plenty of information to read going up and back.

                                                      Here is what the path looks like.

                                      More history and information. We did not see any Graffiti.

                                                            The Dam coming into view.

                                                          A stratum rock formation. Tara, if you see this, tell Ami that it is a petrified Dino in the rocks.

           Getting closer to the Dam. Notice that it is land filled on the left and Concrete on the right.

                                                  Time zone change half way up the Dam.

                                      Looking down at the Dam from the top left of the earth structure.

                                             Looking down river from the top left of the Dam.

                                          The reservoir (Mohave Reservoir) side of Davis Dam.

                                                  You can't drive up to the top of the Dam.

                                      Leaving the park and play grounds at the base of the Dam.

                                                One of the casino river boats going upstream.

                              A cool old fireplace and wall with an arch. Probably an old hacienda. Or possibly a beautiful Villa before 2008 when Obama took office.

                                      Going back over the highway. Check out the cool shadows.

                              If you go to the top of the Dam, it is close to a 4 mile round trip walk. All in all this was enjoyable. But in the summer when it is 120deg. I may take a different view of the experience.
